Cigars Romeo y Julieta Piramides Añejados review, 2015
Here in front of me I have two cigars of the Cuban release 0f 2015 called Añejados. Today I taste one of them: the smooth and attractive Piramide, Romeo y Julieta Piramides Añejados.
The color of the wrapper is warm, chocolate-brown. It is nicely matched with the additional band “Añejados”. “Añejados” means “aged”.
- Capa: Cuba
- Capote: Cuba
- Tripa: Cuba
- Origin: Cuba
Size: 52 X 156
The dress-boxes of 25 cigars carry an additional band identifying their belonging to the Añejados line.
These vitolas, as well as their “brothers” in the line Montecristo Churchill Añejados (tasting review) are not widely available. This is due to the fact that they are limited to the quantity initially laid down to age.
The cigars of the line Añejados get aged in their boxes for the time of 5 to 8 years.
Visual & Wrapper
Beautifully executed, pretty oily cigar of the piramide format, with wonderfully pointed and sharp end. Cuban mastership! The wrapper is a nicely colored marble-like colorado, flickering with little maduro flecks. All the representatives of the Añejados line have this nice type of wrapper coloring.
Very smooth, delicate aroma: cherry, zephyr (Russian sweet), honey cake, dry soil.
The flavour of the smoke is tenderly sweet, toasty in a delicate way. And yet this cigar is full-bodied. The bouquet of this cigar is velvety, deep and elegant, with sub-tones of cherry, redwood.
The 2nd third goes without major changes. Nice smoke, nice ash. It may seam even a bit plain for the 2nd part.
The 3rd third adds pleasant tingling. The cigar now tastes spicier if you release the smoke via retro-nasal way. In general, it has become sweeter and more toasty. There is also a very light pleasant bitterness in the bouquet.
Romeo y Julieta Piramides Añejados are good and proper Cuban cigars. They, probably, will not sweep you off your feet with rich combinations of flavours, and probably many smokers will find them not too interesting. However, these cigars with their elegant and mild flavour profile, aged with care, do deserve your respect.
The Añejados edition of Romeo y Julieta, Piramides are great for a beginner who needs a delicate introduction to cigars, or if you don’t smoke cigars often. It’s a good high quality smoke. Enjoy these cigars also if you plan a comfortable and stress-free evening. They will not disappoint.
